Instruction During COVID-19

(last updated January 11, 2022)

Spring 2022

We will teach all undergraduate classes online via remote instruction until January 30, 2022. During this timeframe there will be no studio access for undergraduate courses. These dates are subject to change per university requirements.

Fall 2021

All studio and seminar courses will be taught in-person, unless otherwise designated as an online course. For more information about UC Berkeley instruction during COVID, testing, and vaccination requirements, consult the UC Berkeley Coronavirus dashboard page.

Art Practice is committed to full compliance with all social distancing regulations implemented by the State of California, Alameda County, and the Regents of the University of California, as well as additional regulations specific to Art Practice creative research methods. Since these regulations are subject to change, all specifications listed here are also subject to change.

Fall 2020 and Spring 2021

We will teach all classes online via remote instruction. There will be no studio access for undergraduate courses. Although we had planned to offer safe, low-occupancy studio access for students enrolled in Art Practice courses, UC Berkeley protocols mandated that we could not do so. Faculty are working diligently to adapt their syllabi towards formats that meet the restrictions of online studio classes, account for the difficulties of working at home and the challenges most of you are facing with limited or no access to materials and equipment. We hope that these adapted classes will also encourage and open up new opportunities. Please contact the listed instructor to find out more information on how a particular course will run.

Summer 2020

In keeping with COVID-19 requirements, all undergraduate classes will be taught online via remote video instruction.

Spring 2020 Graduation

The 2020 Departmental graduation ceremony was moved online, and we held a free online celebration of our students on May 18, 2020, from 5-6:30 PM.
