Vivian Sming(link is external) is an artist, writer, and publisher. In her art practice she uses text, images, video and other new genres to engage in posthuman discourse and is committed to fostering interdisciplinary dialogue through publications and programming.

Sming’s imprint Sming Sming Books & Objects(link is external) designs and publishes a wide range of artists’ books, zines, and editions out of close collaboration with artists whose work and ideas inform design, material, and printing choices. Sming Sming Books is invested in creating books from practices that are challenging to represent on paper, and is committed to promoting critical discourse, and advancing cultural equity through the format of publishing.

Publications include Ark of Martyrs(link is external) by Allan deSouza (2020), Kentifrications(link is external) by Kenyatta A.C. Hinkle (2018), and Shelf Life(link is external)by Related Tactics (2019) - a series of actions implemented in our gallery in 2019.

The Fall 2020 Worth Ryder Art Gallery Internship Program is excited to present a series of talks by artists, curators, and publishers that supplement the gallery’s experiments with remote display techniques and technologies.
