JooYeon Lee

Job title:
MFA '28
Bio/CV:

Jooyeon Lee is an interdisciplinary artist working primarily with participatory sculpture and material-based installation. Born and raised in Seoul, she developed her artistic practice during five years of living and studying in New York, where she pursued Fine Arts and Creative Coding at Parsons School of Design. Her practice examines negotiation as an ongoing condition of adapting within systems and circumstances beyond individual control. Through situations involving imbalance, hesitation, proximity, and shared responsibility, her work draws attention to the subtle ways people adjust to instability and care for one another. Working across ceramics, wood, metal, silicone, and digital fabrication, Lee creates objects and environments that move between invitation and resistance, function and failure, and support and vulnerability.
