SIDE EFFECTS: The Art 173: Electro-Crafting final show, taught by Chris Kubick, is online! Come check us out! We've got games, virtual museum shows, animations and visualizations galore and even a stormtrooper rave. online now here.

Art 173 is a freeform lab for experimentation in expanded media that happens each fall in the art practice department. If you've ever wanted to incorporate sensors/motors/audio/video/code/the internetz in your artwork but didn't quite know where to start, this is the place for you. Or, if you've been doing those things and want to do more of them, this is REALLY the place for you! We get a mix of CS students and art students and the exchanges that happen acoss disciplines are really extraordinary. Often, our focus is on installation practice, but for this special covid edition, the course has been focused on all of the possibilities that the internetz offer us as artists. We built portfolio pages, painted using css, made interactive online samplers, sketchpads and games, and even built our own web servers and databases so we could build multiplayer online games and sites that let visitors drag and drop sounds or images into our artworks. It's been a lot of fun! So bookmark the show and bookmark the course for next year!
