Remembering A Future #2 is an art installation and performance lecture created by artist Amanullah Mojadidi and will be part of the exhibit Emergenc(y): Afghan Lives Beyond the Forever War at the Worth Ryder Art Gallery. Remembering A Future is a participative work that uses a variety of materials, factual and fictional. The audience is invited to engage in notions of home that are explored amidst the histories that have unfolded since 9-11; histories where the political and the personal are intricately intertwined, leading us into a present where migration patterns need to be considered in a new light that goes beyond the stereotyping that typifies the standard reaction found in the U.S. today.
Mojadidi will perform several lecture-performances over 5 days. After the 5 days, the “remains” will be left as an installation for the duration of the exhibition.
Mojadidi’s artwork has been exhibited internationally including the Imperial War Museum-London, Times Square, NYC, Images Biennale-Roskilde, 3rd Dhaka Art Summit, 12th Havana Biennale, 3rd Asia Triennial Manchester, 1st Kochi/Muziris Biennale, and dOCUMENTA (13). In 2012, he was selected as a TED Fellow for the subversively critical nature of his artistic practice while living in Kabul, Afghanistan. He is currently based in Paris, France.
