Emily Luna McCarter

Emily McCarter, Everyday Intimacy, 2022. Digital illustration, printed fabric, thread, 17.5” x 16.5”
These wall quilts are about everyday intimacy. They tell a story of the mundane time spent with loved ones, that seems inconsequential, but can be the most important and lingering memories you share. For me, this work is a visual representation of the gritty real-life version of love that I experience with my friends and family. The process of creating this work was a combination of contemporary technical skills in digital illustration and intergenerational quilting knowledge passed down from my aunt and mother. I hope that these images conjure memories for you of intimate moments with the people you love <3.

Made entirely of a mix of the artist’s own vector designs and graphic illustrations along with A.I. generated art and free license stock photos, this project is an intimate collaboration between the human and her computer.

Malia Brazil

Malia Brazil Confessions, 2022. Found objects, acrylic, wood, velvet, clay, 12’ x 9’.
This piece serves as a conflicted yet nostalgic love letter dedicated to the beautiful cathedrals that I spent my childhood in and the hypercritical words, judgemental eyes, and smothering arms of the
Catholic church.

Meg Stern

Meg Stern, I’m Working on It, 2022. Acrylic and Graphite, 6’ x 8’.
I documented the good and bad moments throughout the past year. Through this process I found there is good and bad in all moments, and I am both kind and mean to myself in different ways. This recognition has given me a sense of peace with myself, and I am now working on accepting and developing the ways I interact with my thoughts and experiences.

Nicholas Koontz

Nicholas Koontz, Somnium, 2022. Plaster, foam core, assorted feathers, scolecite sphere, crushed clear quartz, LED light, 20” x 10” x 10”.

Noé Villa Figueroa

Noé Villa Figueroa, Trespass trespass, 2022. Iron gate, braided fabric, computer screen, video, 6’ x 7’.
Working from a rich archive on artwork based in the U.S. / Mexico Border, this piece is a culmination of nostalgia, queer experience, and material exploration. The audience is invited to gaze and ponder on the space this transformed gate takes up within the gallery itself - a white space. This is really an experience of both sound and visual elements that, combined, contextualize the fabricated identity of belonging to México and the United States.

Nora Aron

Nora Aron, Community Outreach, 2022. Ballpoint pen, sharpie, posca, pencil, charcoal, gesso, acrylic, garbage, found posters, personal documents. 8.5” x 11” *100.
This is my own personal revolution. Find your own. You can have a lil piece tho ;p.

Rose Lee

Rose Lee, The Locket, 2022. Acrylic on canvas, 16” x 20”.
Rose Lee, A Sea of Blossoms, 2022. Acrylic on canvas, 40” x 30”.
This collection narrates a fundamentally human phenomenon, where connection forms and attachment follow. It creates two ends of a spectrum, and we are left to process where we stand. That is the in-betweens of human connection and attachment.

Sophie McMurdy

Sophie McMurdy, Tangibility, 2022. Dyed silk gauze and crocheted yarn, graphite and oil pastel, 60” x 98” x 6”.
