Book Reading and Dance Performance

Saturday, Mar. 4, 1-3 p.m.

Free and open to the public.

Writing Afghan Lives Beyond the Forever War: An Anthology of Writing from Afghanistan and its Diaspora is a powerful, new collection in conjunction with the exhibit Emergenc(y): Afghan Lives Beyond the Forever War, which is on display Feb. 22-Mar 21, 2023. The anthology features 29 writers whose work span, poetry, essay, memoir, fiction, and hybrid genres speaking to the immediate days following the 2021 U.S. withdrawal and Taliban takeover, the intricacies of daily life for Afghans and its diaspora, and the futures that these communities see and imagine for themselves.

Join us for a reading by featured authors Hawa Amin-Arsala, Elina Ansary, Sahar Muradi, and Madina Wardak, as well as a special dance performance by dancer and choreographer Sarah Zamani.
