Isai Soto is a Chicano artist from Fallbrook, CA. After receiving a BA in Anthropology from Columbia University, he pursued a career in the arts informed by his studies in autoethnography. He conceptualizes imaginations of Mexican fluidity beyond traditional artistic mediums via poster work, textiles, and a drag persona. The influence of DIY drag is increasingly present in his practice as a first-generation American in a nation increasingly hostile to Latin American migrants and queer people alike. He has exhibited at Arte Américas, Manhattan Graphics Center, Brooklyn Public Library, and CUNY Macaulay Honors College, and has performed at several nightclubs in New York City. He works from his home in Oakland.
