Asenath Lizárraga (they/them) is a Peruvian-American visual artist from Washington State. They primarily work in printmaking, oil painting, and ceramics, using symbolism to convey stories exploring cultural connections to nature, mythology, ancestry, and dream spaces. They’re passionate about creating art that captures the beauty of Latin American culture, emphasizing points of cultural unity and collective memory.
Their multidisciplinary art practice and motivation to understand and help preserve the natural world led them to the Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA, where they graduated with dual degrees, a BA and a BS. While living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, they worked as a studio and program manager at OFFCenter Community Arts Project, where they created a DIY printmaking studio. Simultaneously they organized with a free childcare collective and other grassroots community organizations supporting community care and the struggle for collective liberation. At an artist residency,at La Ceiba Gráfica in Veracruz, Mexico, they explored the process of stone lithography for the first time and produced a series of prints incorporating elements of Latin American spirituality and folk practices they researched while traveling. Asenath is a recipient of Artist Trust’s 2025 Grants for Artist Projects.
