Tanja Geis, GSI, Spring 2015

geis_photoSince arriving at Berkeley my work has focused on the mudflats adjacent to the Bay Trail in Richmond, CA, experimenting with how the materiality of object making and the physical experience of being in the environment might offer deeper intimacy with its thriving entangled ecology. For the past five years my practice has consistently explored the themes of liminality, hybridity and intentional perception in the context of the coast and ocean. I hold a Masters in Resource Management in Marine and Coastal Management from the University Center of the Westfjords, and a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from Yale University.
