Student Co-Curators Wanted for Open Call Exhibition! Apply by 4/24/2018.

STUDENT CO-CURATORS WANTED
For Annual Open Call Student Exhibition: September, 2018

Worth Ryder Art Gallery Director Farley Gwazda is looking for THREE motivated, creative, responsible students to co-curate the 2018 Open Call Student Exhibition. This will involve working together to choose a theme for the exhibition, encourage student submissions to our Call for Work, select artworks for inclusion in the show, design and install the exhibition, and do promotions.

The premiere showcase for student art on campus, The Annual Open-Call Student Exhibition celebrates the challenging and diverse art practices of the UC Berkeley community. All Cal students are invited to submit proposals to a competitive Call for Work. Last year’s exhibition, Authority, featured the work of 51 student artists, was one of the most well-attended exhibitions of the year, and was featured in the Daily Cal.

The Student Co-Curator role is structured as a two-credit internship for the Fall 2018 semester, although much of the preparation work will be done during the summer (working remotely and in-person), and most duties will be completed by the end of September. Co-Curators must be enrolled at Cal for the Fall 2018 semester. Not restricted to art majors. (More about Worth Ryder Art Gallery Student Internship Program here…)

To apply, please send an email to: gwazda@berkeley.edu with subject line “Student Co-Curator Application” by Thursday, May 24th, 2018.

In less than one page, describe what you think the theme of the exhibition should be, how this experience will be relevant to your education and career goals, and any past experience that may demonstrate your ability to successfully carry out the duties described above. Selection is competitive.
